St John's United Church Children's Choir: A fun and enriching musical experience for children ages 6 to 12! We sing songs, perform dramas, perform songs with percussion instruments and dance movement... and we have delicious snacks too!

The Choir is open to ALL children in the community, not just members of the St John’s United congregation. There is no audition or registration fee required. Rehearsals are held on Fridays, 3:30-4:30 at St. John’s House, 6233 Willow St. Registration begins on Sunday, September 5. Please contact Ray Grant, Director of Music at 423-8498 or by email at raygrant@eastlink.ca to register your child.

Suppertime Bible Study: Information to come!

Taize is a service of special music and meditation usually held the first Sunday of each month. We host our Taize services at St. Matthias Anglican Church, corner of Windsor and Chebucto Streets. Taize offers an opportunity for worship quite unlike the regular Sunday morning services. Curious newcomers are always welcome. Visit the official Taize website: http://www.taize.fr/

St. John's Book Club.

Stewardship Development will be holding a Book Fair on Saturday, September 11 from 9am to 1pm.
We ask that you please donate any used books you might have. They can be dropped off at St John's House on 6233 Willow Street. We will also be having a baked goods table, and again we will be looking for donations. Chef Wendall's homemade chili and soup station will be open on that day.
As usual, we are looking for volunteers to assist us on this day. Usual jobs are set-up, working the tables and tear down. Please see any member of the Stewardship Development Committee to volunteer. We sincerely appreciate your help.

Leadership Mini-Retreat:
Saturday, September 18 from 8:30am to 1:30pm at St. Matthias Anglican Church, corner of Windsor and Chebucto.
If you are offering leadership of any kind for St. John's Congregation or are thinking of offering leadership in the future, this is for you.

It is clear that we will be in the desert (albeit at an oasis) for the next two years. We need to develop a sense of vision for how we will be and who we want to be. We will also hear back from folks who attended the United Church Best Practices Conference known as More Franchises. We hope to set some goals as a people of God.

If you plan to attend, please email or call the office: stjohnsunited@eastlink.ca
or 423-8498.
